COMOS FEED

Controlled plant engineering from the outset with COMOS FEED.

Description

One of the most important tasks of the front-end engineering & design (FEED) phase is an initial cost calculation and a clear representation of processes. COMOS FEED provides the basis for the initial rough calculation, even in this early engineering phase. Processes can be displayed transparently in block diagrams. Entire process sequences, flow directions and the relationship between the different processes can easily be represented in these diagrams.

Benefits

  • Reduced risk and error potential due to comprehensive review mechanisms
  • Simplified integration of design data through interfaces to simulation programs
  • Time and cost efficient PFD creation due to reuse
  • Best data overview due to intelligent process flow diagrams
  • Rough calculation of costs in the first engineering phase through the early and accurate provision of the foundation

Design and function

Process flow diagrams (PFDs) can be used for basic process engineering in COMOS FEED. All necessary data sheets and lists, such as general plans, material information, etc. can be generated automatically. COMOS FEED offers a library with modules that can be copied, moved and reused with drag&drop in COMOS. It is thus possible to standardize recurring sequences to individual requirements and recall them at any time. If similar sequences in new projects are required, these can also be modified and used again.

An open interface model ensures maximum flexibility and data consistency during import and export of data. The interfaces can be used to directly access the process data from different simulation programs. Data can be seamlessly imported and integrated into COMOS and can be used to create process flow diagrams in COMOS FEED. The simulation objects can be smoothly linked with PFD objects in COMOS.

Due to unique rules and review mechanisms, the Knowledge Base in COMOS FEED guarantees the security of the engineering data. The planning engineer can create and apply comprehensive sets of rules for error-free creation of process flow diagrams. The review of rules only has to be triggered and will then continue automatically. Different warning levels indicate deviations from the rule and their severity.

Once the PFD is complete, all data and information from the FEED phase can be easily converted to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) in the next step.

Security information

To ensure the secure operation of a plant or machine it is also necessary to take suitable preventive action (e.g. cell protection concept) and to integrate the automation and drive components into a state-of-the-art holistic industrial security concept for the entire plant or machine. Any third-party products that may be in use must also be taken into account.
